Not often does one get the chance to invest in rare beauty like this Aston Martin DB6 MKII Vantage. This Vantage is one of the rarest David Brown eras of Astons as this one, is 1 of 71 with a Chassis number DB6MK2/4118/R.
The DB6 is sometimes considered last true Aston Martin, launched in 1965 to replace the DB5, it was remodelled with a sleeker bodyline with a 100mm wheelbase. This resulted in a reshaping of the rear quarter windows and a steeply racked windscreen. The major was to the rear of the car with the Kamm Tail with Spoiler aiding in the aerodynamics thereby greatly enhancing the stability of the Aston at High Speeds.
Then there is the amazing six-cylinder engine designed by Tadek-Marek which had been enlarged for the DB6 to 3995cc. It would have ben customary that the DB6 would have been fitted with Triple SU Carbs, but the Vantage engines were fitted with Triple Webers bring the power output to 325 bhp over the standard SU output of 282bhp.
Drivetrain wise not much had been changed in the Aston Martin line with a 5-speed box from ZF or there was an Automatic Version available at the time, Standard was the AVON SPOKE WHEELS that were wider than the MK1 as the MK2 was given some upgrades from the DBS as Aston Martin were putting their focus into their new Marque.
This beautiful example of the DB6 MK2 was built in November of 1969. As we are led to understand onto South Africa by a Mr Verity and then sold to Mr Meyerowitz in Johannesburg in 1985. He owned this Aston Martin for 27 years before selling her to the current owner. And a new story began with a new least on life with a comprehensive restoration costing into the Millions of Rands. This was done by Ivano Sega from Carozzeria in Edenvale, and if you know Ivano, he a man for detail and perfection. Besides the beautiful paintwork the interior had been redone as well as the Engine has been completely rebuilt and has song of sweet straight six music to the hears of beholder.
