Description
The Ferrari 308 is a mid-engined V8, two-seater sports car manufactured by the Italian company between 1975 and 1985, replacing the Dino 246. The 308’s body was designed by Pininfarina, the design house responsible for Ferrari’s most celebrated designs to date.
The Targa-topped 308 GTS was released in 1977, and the Quattrovalvole variants were introduced in 1982. Visually, the 308 GTS was very similar to the standard 308 GTB, except for the black removable glass-fibre roof panel and the black hinged louvre panels over the rear quarter windows. The chassis was also reinforced in key places to compensate for the lack of rigidity without a roof. The 308 GTS was made famous by the iconic television series Magnum P.I., in which the series’ lead, Thomas Magnum, drove the car around Oahu for eight seasons of the show airing between 1980 and 1988. The pleasure of this kind of open-top driving has a very special place in the heart of many Ferrari fans.
We are pleased to offer a 1978 Ferrari 308 GTS with 85400km indicated on the clock. It is presented well in its unique specification, being Giallo Fly paintwork over a cream leather interior. It is also a left-hand-drive example that has been well looked after, showing no heavy signs of wear-and-tear for its age.
