A Record-Breaking Success

The recent Creative Rides auction at Montecasino set new records, with a 1964 Jaguar E-Type selling for R2,375,000, the highest price of the event. The concours-condition E-Type, featuring a stunning mercury silver exterior and oxblood leather interior, was nearly matched by a 2005 BMW M3 CSL, which sold for R2,350,000.

Billed as South Africa’s largest classic-car auction, the event saw over 200 vehicles auctioned, totaling more than R100 million in sales. Highlights included a 1963 Corvette C2 Split Window coupé at R2,300,000 and a 2007 Porsche GT3 RS at R2 million.

A surprising star was a 1991 Opel Kadett Superboss, which set a national record by fetching R555,000. Additionally, a numbers-matching 1991 BMW 325iS Evo2 sold for R950,000, breaking the previous South African auction record for this model.

The auction drew approximately 2,500 attendees and a live-stream audience of 26,000, with muscle cars and BMWs taking center stage. Creative Rides continues to demonstrate the growing passion for classic and collectible cars, setting new benchmarks in the market.
