Partially restored 1958 oval rear window Volkswagen Karmann Beetle Cabriolet. Drive train, pan, suspension and engine have been reconditioned (video of the motor running is available). Bodywork has been prepared for paint (new paint supplied). Lights, bumpers, fuel tank, badges and various new or restored trim parts included. Original door cards and fabric soft top present. Papers are up to date and reflect ‘USED/GEBRUIK’ status.
The Beetle Cabriolet began production in 1949 by Karmann in Osnabrück. It was more than a Beetle with a folding top. To compensate for the strength lost in removing the roof; sills were reinforced, a transverse beam was fitted below the front edge of the rear seat, panels below the instrument panel were double wall and the door apertures had welded in curved gussets.
Early examples of the right-hand drive oval rear window Karmann Beetle convertible are very rare and extremely desirable the world over.
