This is an Original Paint and Interior BMW e30 325IS EVO 1 car with Aluminium Doors, Bonnet and Fenders.
The right front fender has been replaced with a steel one, perhaps due to the additional heat from the Turbo charger.
Very complete example of the super rare BMW 325iS Evo 1 complete with the original MTech body kit and leather sport seat interior in good condition. A turbo was fitted in period – possibly one of the conversions done by Alpine Developments in 1991. The car is running but would need an enthusiast to give it some love to get it back to the level it should be. Papers are in order, reflect ‘Used’ status but indicate the car was registered in 1995.
With the values of original BMW 325iS well up with the collectors this could be the ideal candidate for a back to factory restoration, but then again looking at the Alpine Turbo figures CAR magazine recorded in January 1992 it might be a blast to keep the force feeding – 210kW, 0-100km/h in 6.49 seconds, a standing kilometre in 26.58 seconds and a top end of 244km/h.
With South Africa would not be getting the M3 and a heavy desire to win Group N production car racing series BMW needed a car one step up from the regular 325i. Enter the Evo 1, a radical redesign, featuring aluminium body panels, brakes and suspension from the M3, and a larger 2.7-litre engine sourced from Alpina. With the Evolution 2 launching in 1991 production of Evo 1 versions came to an end, making it a very rare and sought after homologation special.
